The 1971 142E (fuel injected, overdrive transmission) is the most valuable year/model of the Volvo 140 series.
Low production, high performance motor, manual/overdrive transmission.
Volvo effectively took the 140 body, stuck in the leather interior from the 164, and put the higher-performance 1800E engine/transmission underneath.
When you buy the 142E (Electronic Fuel Injection) you don't just get a hot engine in a standard production Volvo. You also get a bigger, stronger 4-speed transmission with overdrive. A tougher rear end. Larger 4-wheel power disc brakes. And a wider wheels with radial tires.
And instead of being stripped down for racing, it's padded for comfort. The bucket seats for example, are covered in leather. And their adjustable in a multitude of ways.
