82 VW RABBIT CONVERTIBLE

87,000 original mileage, 5 speed transmission. Second owner. Driven every day until a few months ago when transmission shift linkage needs repair, will only go into 1st and 2nd gear. I am in my eighty’s and just can no longer work on the car. It is in excellent mechanical condition, except transmission shifter. I have updated many components, cosmetics are not so great. A list of recent (last 3-5 years) updated parts and systems condition are listed below.
New Tires on front, rear tire tread is good but some years old.
Suspension is tight, all steering bushing and components are in good condition including CV joints and boots.
Brakes - Rear brake shoes, wheel bearings and cylinders replaced. Front disc pads, bearings and right hub and caliper replaced.
Fuel – All rubber hoses and lines replaced. New fuel pump and pressure regulator. Fuel injection distributor rebuilt.
Engine – Engine is in good condition always starts and runs smooth. Water pump and timing belt replaced. Doesn’t use oil or smoke.
Exhaust system – Muffler and pipes replaced, quiet and no rattles.
Electrical – Headlight relay kit installed making lights brighter and reduced load on original wiring, good battery and charging system.
Air Conditioning – Air conditioner worked well until I replaced timing belt. I removed compressor and lost refrigerant hose from compressor to condenser.
Body-Paint-Top
Body is straight. Hood has a small bend in rear corner, see photo.
Rust is limited to bottom of trunk door and to body below, see photo
Paint is thin, faded and flaking.
Bumpers are straight and chrome is good. Top is deteriorating and cracking, but not leaking.
Window glass is good, front windshield has cracks, have been driving with them for many years. Have new windshield rubber gasket in package.
Interior - All original interior, front seat bottom cushion stitching is gone. All gages and indicators work except tachometer.
