This car was restored 3 years ago and has over $33,000 in body work and upgrades! The interior has been completely customized. New seats were installed from a 2009 Scion TC. The carpet, door panels, and headliner are all new. During the build, the original dash was removed and a new customized steel dash installed. The original speedometer was put back in the dash but the rest kept clean and simple in the matching color of the exterior. A Sun Pro Tachometer was installed under the dash as well as a fire extinguisher on the passenger side kick panel. The steering wheel is brand new and was originally for a 1970's Dino Ferrari. The magnificent paint color is 1G3 Magnetic Gray Metallic sprayed with Sikkens paint which looks amazing. The steel body has had all of the emblems, hinges, handles, bumpers and mounting holes shaved & professionally welded smooth. The original stock fenders have been removed & replaced with wider custom fiberglass fenders to support the wider wheels & custom running board. The fenders are 2 inches wider then stock to support the 17x9 and 17x7 wheels that this amazing bug rides on. The taillights are from a Chevy HHR and the mirrors are from a Honda CBR600. The doors have been reversed with hidden hinges for that cool suicide door style. The suspension has an adjustable air shock set up in the front and rear. This is controlled by a compressor behind the rear seat and adjustments under the rear seat. The front suspension is an adjustable front beam with 2.5" front spindles. The front brakes are discs and there are drums in the rear. The new motor is a 1641cc four cylinder that has around 1800 miles on it and reads just over 66000 on the odometer. The internals include a 110 eagle cam, counter weight crank and a lightened flywheel. The motor is fed with dual Weber carburetors & breathes through a merged header into a Supertrap muffler from a Harley Davidson black chrome. Firewall has been replaced with just a smooth piece of metal to finish off the clean look. This is an award winning car that has taken home 2 first place awards at the Birmingham World Of Wheels the last two years as well as at Bug Blast!
