1965 Triumph TR4 

West Coast Classics are proud to present an absolutely exceptional and completely rust free example of this rare original southern California 'Black Plate' 1965 Triumph TR4 Convertible with a 4 speed manual transmission and beautifully presented in highly desirable and most representative 'British Racing Green' paint, black soft top, full weather cover and a gorgeous black interior!

The car will be sold with it's owner's handbook. The car was purchased from it's most recent southern California owner and has absolutely no rust and there are no signs or history of any accidents or rust - one very rare original southern California example! The car has a lovely black convertible top with no rips or tears and which is perfectly functional and the car has a matching full weather cover and a factory spare wheel but with no tire. All the options are working as they should including all the gauges and lights.

Originally a motorcycle company, Triumph began to produce small cars in 1923. This is obviously one especially desirable example of the Triumph TR4 Convertible with a body designed by Italy's Giovanni Michelotti. Originally based on the TR3A chassis and running gear with a larger 2138cc engine with a top speed of 109 mph and a new all synchromesh gearbox. The TR4's roof is completely removable from the frame if desired (see photos below) and compared to the TR3 is easy to remove and reassemble! Michelotti's styling was contemporary and great looking with wind-up windows, face-level ventilation, a squared tail and a curvaceous nose featuring high set headlamps with 'eyelids' formed by the humps in the hood. A 'power blister' offset to the right of the hood provided clearance for the air cleaners and carburetors and adds to the beautiful bodystyle.

This car truly has to be seen to be appreciated and driven to be believed - drives as good as it looks! The engine purrs imperceptibly under the hood and the 4 speed manual transmission shifts smoothly through the gears - an absolute pleasure to drive! The temperature always remains cool and there are no noticeable oil leaks.

Without a doubt you will look long and hard to find a finer example of this rare original southern California 'Black Plate' 1965 Triumph TR4 Convertible in British Racing Green color, a very rare piece of British motoring history from this legendary marque name - perfect for the Triumph enthusiast or any British classic car collector!
