The Triumph twin enjoyed remarkable success and set world speed records on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. In 1955, Triumph power set a speed record of 193 mph and in 1962 their 650cc engine raised the record to almost 225 mph. You have found a real #’s matching 66 Bonneville (VIN T120RDU26149). This beautiful classic was acquired by a shop out of Burbank, CA in 2010 with just over 12,000 miles on it and they turned this sweet classic into a bad boy vintage chopper. The first thing that was done was to strip the frame and convert it into a hardtail with an added 10 degrees rake in the neck which resulted in a much lower seat height, lower frame height and longer stance. The next thing was to have the drive train gone through which included installing new valves, guides, +.020 pistons, rod bearings, all lower end and transmission bearings as well all new seals and gaskets. When the bike was re-assembled it received a performance exhaust, 2 new Amal carbs, a new Boyer electronic ignition, a new air cleaner, all new cables, a new battery and new tires. With the exception of the frame mods, the tanks and the seat this is in essence still a 1966 T120R Bonneville. She kick starts without a problem and drives like a dream. The chrome was all redone and the polished cases still shine nicely. This is what a real chopper looked like in the 60’s. We acquired this from the gent that bought it from Burbank and had to sell because of health reasons. Since it’s completion it has been driven less than 1,000 miles and is in incredible condition. This vintage chopper is gonna sell quickly at a price that it less than half of what the previous owner paid for it!
