The Pontiac Safari was produced from 1955 to 1957 in response to the increasing popularity of the station wagon body style. Although the Safari name was first applied to Pontiac's version of the 2-door Chevy Nomad station wagon, it was sold as it's own model for a limited production run. Fitted with Pontiac's unique front-end bumper/grille assembly, sheet metal, and rear tail light design. This design combination eventually received a patent by its stylist, Paul Gillan. It also came with sport-coupe front doors, sliding rear-seat windows, and extra chrome adorning the tailgate and interior. Additionally, it had a raked forward "B" pillar; a flourish not shared with other station wagons from that era. This 1956 Pontiac Safari is one of 4,042 units produced for that year. Very few of those are still on the road. Fewer still are the number of Safari Wagons in such beautiful condition as this one!
This 1956 Pontiac Safari Wagon has been very well maintained. It has never had any rust which has enabled its excellent condition.
