To avoid tariffs imposed by the Canadian government, GM produced cars with part contents that were distinctively... Well, Canadian! Several variations of cars that were sold through Pontiac dealers looked like Pontiacs, but were actually built on Chevrolet chassis’ with Chevrolet power-plants. Body panels were not shared until later years as they had to fit the shorter Chevrolet wheelbase as well as use the Chevrolet instrument panels. Names were also distinctively Canadian as well: Parisienne, Laurentian, Acadian and later Beaumont. By 1970, the trade laws became superfluous and the unique models were discontinued, though names continued, including the Parisienne through 1986.
This particular Parisienne is powered by a 396-CID big-block. This white 2+2 is equipped with power steering and brakes, a working AM radio, bucket seats and console, automatic transmission, plus an aftermarket air cleaner and dash-mounted gauges.
