Exterior:
This '57 Chieftain is finished in flawless Pontiac Starlight Black with Yellow spears and is beautiful in every respect. The body panels are laser straight, all panel gaps are uniform, and is completely rust and accident free. During the restoration, the body was completely disassembled, stripped, and sanded to bare metal prior to application of the enamel finish coats. Following the paint, the entire body was cut and highly buffed to a mirror-like finish. All of the original stainless trim was restored and polished and each chrome piece was refinished to its factory new condition. All seals and weather stripping was also replaced. At almost 59 years old, this car is still new in appearance and running condition.
Interior:
The dazzling interior of this Chieftain was not in any way spared the restorer's touch. With luxurious cream and black leather-like vinyl covering the front and rear seating, door and side panels, to its fine needle point carpet and nicely restored headliner, this is one show quality cabin where the occupants will truly feel pampered. The dash and all other painted surfaces have the same Starlight Black mirror-like finish as the exterior. All window trim pieces, door and window handles, instrument bezels, etc. were either refinished or replaced. Without cutting the dash, a high-end Kenwood AM FM Stereo unit was fitted to compliment a hidden CD player and rear package tray speakers. A custom Grant leather wrapped steering wheel and under-dash old-school tach were added to keep the hot rod style alive. All instruments, gauges, lamps and other indicators are in their proper operating condition.
Engine and Driveline:
All machine, assembly and engine work was done at local shops in the Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA area. The factory matching numbers 347 cu. in. block was bored to 370 cu. in., heads were ported, polished, fitted with hardened seats and stainless valves, cast aluminum pistons, Pontiac Ram Air 3 cam, hardened push rods, Rochester Tri-Power carb set (a rare factory option on the Chieftain in '57 are completely in sync, offer plenty of "go" when needed and great overall drivability), after-market air cleaners, original rebuilt 4-Speed Hydra-Matic transmission, Flowmaster mufflers, aluminized exhaust system, power steering and power front disc brakes.
Wheels and Tires:
Custom 15 in. aluminum wheels are mounted on radial 235/60/15 tires.
