According to the current owner, this Packard started life as an original 5 Door Hearse. He purchased it in 1993 and converted it to the awesome street rod you see here. Finished with beautiful Cadillac Polo Green Metallic paint with 7 coats of primer, 7 coats of color and 4 coats of clear. It has gold pinstriping, white wall tires, custom aluminum alloy wheels from Billet Specialties, custom grill, and of course the classic Packard hood ornament. Inside has been converted from a hearse to a four person limo with leather power seats, custom overhead console, Wabbit custom cherry dash and some amazing custom cherry wood work! This is a big car, and it needs a big engine to get it moving. That chore is handled by a modern 502 CID V8 pushing 502 horsepower with aluminum heads, HEI ignition, Holley 800 CFM carburetor, Billet Specialties engine pulley system, electric fuel pump running through a 700R4 automatic transmission with 2 piece drive shaft in a Lincoln 9" rear end with 3.70 gears. Other upgrades include Classic Industries gages, Vogue gold line tires, block hugger headers running to a stainless steel exhaust system with chrome tips, 1972 Nova subframe with power disc brakes on all 4 corners, engine painted in Polo Green, custom valve covers, and more. This car is all original sheet metal and is all steel. In addition, it has power steering, power seats, power windows, power door locks, seatbelts, tilt & telescopic steering wheel, cruise control, air conditioning, AM/FM/CD Player, keyless entry, CB radio and a trailer hitch. Only 2,700 of this model were ever built, so it is a very rare car that has had the royal street rod treatment.
This car commands attention wherever it goes and it runs and rides like a late model Suburban. Included in the sale will be some photo documentation of the restoration, a 6 inch thick binder full of receipts, some car show trophies and an appraisal from 2001.
