This 1971 Siva Moonbug was imported from Scotland to Canada in 1976. Contains a 4 cylinder 1969 Morris Mini drivetrain with 4 speed manual transmission. All engine parts are still available in Canada from classic British Mini dealers, and parts books will be included with the vehicle purchase.
This is an extremely rare car. Only 94 were ever built and under 50 are known to still exist, with only one other currently in North America (the other one is in the USA).
Since this was imported from UK, the steering column is on the right hand side of the vehicle. The car originally used leaded gasoline, but currently uses unleaded with the (infrequent) use of a fuel additive. Unlike most other dune buggies found in North America, the engine is located in the front of the vehicle, making it front-wheel drive.
Brake lines, electrical wiring, clutch, tires, battery, seats and seat covers, and lights have all been replaced in recent years. While the body is slightly faded, and the roll bar and canvas roof have been removed, the vehicle still is in good drivable condition, and with classic car status it is very cheap to insure for casual driving (currently $280/year). Appraisal value for insurance was $8000 in 2011 with a certified condition of "Good" (2011 appraisal available upon request).
A Facebook group with all of the current owners of the remaining vehicles can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/297364817885 . All but one of these other owners are located in UK/Europe.
I am reluctantly selling this vehicle because I don't have any appropriate place to store it long-term. Hoping to find a new owner that will take good care of it for years to come.
