1956 Continental Mark II For Sale in Minot, North Dakota 58701

** Motivated Seller **

Get ready to capture the attention of anyone who sees you driving this 1956 Continental Mark II. "To craft the finest automobiles in America"- This was the brief of Ford's short-lived Continental Division. The Continental Division of Ford Motor Company traced its roots back to Edsel Ford's pet project, the 1939 Lincoln-Continental. The Continental Division instituted a seven-point quality-control program, and each Mark II required twice as many man-hours to build as did a contemporary Lincoln. The coupe's styling was considered quite conservative upon introduction; its lack of tailfins, air scoops, chrome moldings, two-tone paint or other "jet age" styling cues gave the Mark II a tastefully understated appearance. This 2-door hardtop features a sleek, elegant styling. It is dressed in beautiful light blue paint that is complemented by an exceptionally clean two tone blue interior. Powered by a 368 Y-Block V-8 engine that is paired with automatic transmission, this handsome devil offers 285 horsepower and a readiness to hit the road. If you are someone who collects or appreciates rare, iconic classics than you owe it yourself to check out this Mark II!

This light blue Mark II was purchased by the current owner in 2015 from Morgan Hills, CA. It is absolutely rust free. I would not call it ‘fully restored’, but it is as close as you can get. The engine bay is clean and very nice. The air cleaner is beautiful shiny black with the correct ‘star’ wing nut. The carb is original and it has been re-built. The engine is painted the correct color and classic valve covers have been restored to look as correct as any out there today.

The 368 ‘Y’ block engine is the original engine as is the original transmission and rear end. Mechanicals seem sound.

The body and body work have been done to ‘almost perfection’. If you look down the sides and the roof, trunk, and hood you see metal that is as “straight as an arrow”!

The paint is beautiful. The detail in the door jamb is meticulously done. Stock chrome on the edges and the stainless door sills have been restored/polished to the 9’s!

The original stock wool carpet is in nice shape and fits well. The front seat has been re-done in a nice matching vinyl and the rear seat and biscuits are original. The headliner and air conditioning ducts are in nice condition. The car is originally an air conditioned car, but it is not in working condition.

The stock exhaust system exits the rear of the car through the bumper ends. The gas fill is behind the driver’s side tail light and the hinge is fine working order. It has always had non-ethanol gasoline put in it since its North Dakota home. The fuel gauge does not work. This car has had the electrical upgrade to an alternator and it charges well.

When this car ships out of Minot, ND, it will have a fresh-full tank of 91 octane premium fuel in it along with a new battery installed on 12/1/2020.

The new wide white wall tires are mounted on new welded rims so that the hub caps do not accidentally come off with radial tires. The hub caps have had the fins removed from each cap and then the background has been painted and then re-assembled. The spare tire is original style. It has the blue cover over the spare, and the jack is intact and is in its original pouch.

The chrome and stainless on the car (bumpers, grille, window trim) are all in nice condition and the bumpers are not corroded at all. Headlight rims are in nice condition with good clips holding them in place. The chrome letters on the trunk lid and on the hood have all been re-chromed. The trunk lid ‘emblem’ is immaculate. The hood ornament is not broken and it is in nice condition also. The windshield wiper arms and blades are nice and the original wiper motor works.

This 1956 Continental Mark II has been very well maintained. It is all numbers matching and ready to leave you feeling like a movie star! This hardtop coupe is a must see/drive to truly appreciate everything it has to offer. In fact, come see for yourself! You will agree that you cannot find another '56 Mark II in this condition for the asking price. Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity to own the luxury automobile icon you've been searching for at a very fair price. Call today for more information on how you can get behind the wheel of this rare classic jewel!!!
