The Oldsmobile 442 was introduced as an option beginning in 1964 on the F-85 and Cutlass Models. It became its own model in 1968 and continued as such through 1971. The 442 package included a stiffened frame, boxed rear suspension control arms, a heavy duty clutch, a FE2 suspension, a heavy duty drive shaft, heavy duty cooling, disc brakes, higher rate coil springs, heavy duty shock absorbers, a large front anti roll bar and an additional anti roll bar for the rear. The addition of the W-30 package added Ram Air intake hoses leading from a dual snorkel air cleaner to special under-bumper air scoops, bright red plastic fender wells and a hotter cam which increased the hp on the 400 ci block to 360. The original 400 block was replaced with a 455ci V8 from 1971. This particular example was optioned with the tic-toc-tach and a wood grain steering wheel. This car is all original except for the block and was repainted in its original color of Crimson about 15 years ago. Don’t be mistaken by its looks though because this car was built to perform with its 300hp V8 effortlessly putting power to the 12 bolt rear end (with 4:11 gears) via the crisp shifting M-21 transmission. You could drive it anywhere as it is need of nothing. Only made 1,097 of these cars so if you have been looking for a real W-30 you better call us because once this one is gone it is gone!
