The Oldsmobile 4-4-2 (also known as the 442) is a muscle car produced by Oldsmobile from 1964 to 1987. Introduced as an option package it became its own model from 68 to 71. The 2nd generation was offered from 68 through 72. The 2nd generation also marked the first year for side marker lights and shoulder belts. Despite storm clouds on the muscle car horizon, the 4-4-2 returned in 1971 with only minor modifications from the previous year. In 1972 the 4-4-2 name reverted to an appearance and handling option package. This added heavy duty springs, shocks and sway bars, side striping, hood louvers, a unique grille as well as fender and decklid badges. This particular example is a 3 owner beauty that was repainted in its original color of Flame Orange about 25 years ago. Its original black soft top was replaced about 10 years ago. It is equipped with its original 455ci V8 that has never been rebuilt and runs beautifully. It is mated to a T400 transmission controlled by a rare optional Hurst Dual Gate shifter referred to as a His & Hers shifter. The stereo has been upgraded with a newer shaft stereo that has an input for the added XM tuner. It has also been upgraded with an Oooga Horn that gets a lot of attention. The only other thing not original to this car besides the normal wear & tear items is the rear bumper. It needed to be replaced when the car was repainted and the previous owner could not find the correct bumper so he used one from a Cutlass Supreme. It was recently serviced and everything is working as it should. We would classify this as a #3 car and would appraise it at the average N.A.D.A. retail value which is currently $52,900. We are serious about finding a new home for this beauty so if you like what you see you better get in touch with us as this one is sure to sell quickly at the current price! SOLD
