1971 Oldsmobile 442 

The Oldsmobile 4-4-2 (also known as the 442) is a muscle car produced by Oldsmobile from 1964 to 1987. Introduced as an option package it became its own model from 68 to 71. The 2nd generation was offered from 68 through 72. The 1968 4-4-2 with an automatic transmission attained 0–60 times of 7.0 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 15.13 seconds with a top speed of 115 mph. The 2nd generation also marked the first year for side marker lights and shoulder belts. Despite storm clouds on the muscle car horizon, the 4-4-2 returned in 1971 with only minor modifications from the previous year. In fact its 455ci V8 was still rated at 340 hp even though it was designed to run on unleaded gasoline. This particular example is a 3 owner beauty that has been in the same garage for the last 24 years. It was repainted in its original color of Ebony Black and the Black vinyl top was replaced about 26 years ago. It retains its mostly original Pearl White interior which perfectly accents its Cameo White stripes. It also has its original 455ci V8 engine and Turbo 400 transmission. The engine was rebuilt at the same time the car was repainted with a bit more aggressive of a cam and both the transmission and rear end were gone through at the same time. The carb was upgraded to an 850cfm and it now has an electronic ignition and a B&M shifter. You will also notice the chrome air cleaner, valve covers, alternator covers and the sweet set of old school Cragar rims. The original carb, shifter, stereo, valve covers, alternator covers and ignition as well as a car cover are all included as shown in the pix. It was recently serviced and everything is working as it should except for the reverse lights. We would classify this as a strong # 3 car and would appraise it at the average N.A.D.A. retail value which is currently $39,600.
