For Sale: 1929 Nash 420 (Standard Six) 4 door sedan in excellent condition. Frame-off restoration including new fuel tank. Body is solid - no filler, all metal and absolutely no rust.
All original with the exception of body and upholstery colors and minor electrical changes to enhance safety (second taillight & turn signals). Car retains the original 6-volt electrics but headlight reflectors have been nickel-plated, and an optical coating applied for improved lighting. Higher CP bulbs installed all round so any perceived disadvantages of 6-volt have been adequately addressed.
Beautiful blue/black body paint with complimentary blue and gray Mohair upholstery with black carpeting. Top is new, padded grained vinyl. All chrome re-plated and perfect. Windows are clear and crack-free, including tilt out front windshield.
Rear ‘coach’ or ‘suicide’ doors open wide for easy access to the ample rear seat. Passengers enjoy the robe (blanket) rail, foot rest rail, and privacy blinds.
Demountable tires, with wood spoke (artillery) wheels which are tight and run true. Excellent whitewalled Firestone 4.75/5.00-20 rubber. Rear mounted spare.
Recent engine work on the 184.1 CI, 6 cylinder included new valves, valve guides, head & block planning, rings, piston rod bushings and ring gear. Water pump rebuilt, new radiator core fabricated and rebuilt generator fitted.
Engine starts instantly (electric start) and runs cool even with prolonged idling. Fuel is fed to the engine via the original vacuum fuel tank which is quite unique.
Clutch plate and brake shoes have been re-lined. Transmission is a 3-speed manual and brakes are mechanical – contracting shoes on rear; expanding shoes on front.
Extensive work has been done to the car beyond what is mentioned above and further details can be provided to interested parties.
