DISCRIPTION: This 78 Mercury Cougar XR7, according to available information was shipped to Jacksonville, Florida where it spent most of its life. Vehicle was inhereted by family members and was registered in Pennsylvania in October 1994. Sold to a friend of mine whom I purchased from in November 2001.
CONDITION: Body was blistered but no holes. Chrome was removed and re-installed after paint. Passanger rear floor pan was rusted, why I do not know, however, was replaced with new metal, welded and sealed. Frame has surface rust as all do but no cancer and is rock solid.
Engine is a 302cu.in.V8. Rebuilt by a machine shop at 32,000mi. in 1995. New radiator, water pump, smog pump, alernator, tune-up. Car runs like new.
Interior is white and is good to excellent condition. New OEM carpet, OEM headliner. Drivers seat was repaired and interior was re-stained to original color. Car does have factory air but is not working.
OVERVIEW: While this Cougar is not a show car it does turn heads and receives many compliments from young and old, especially the Medium Jade color which was unique for 1978 Cougars.
