This 1998 Mercedes Benz SL500 convertible is located for sale in our Louisville KY showroom. The first thing that comes to mind when you say Mercedes is probably not performance. The SL500 is a very luxurious 2 door roadster that puts performance at the top of its list. With the 3 valve per cylinder 5 liter engine under the hood putting out an impressive 315 horses you could do an astonishing 155 electronically limited top speed. That is very impressive given the car weighs in at almost 2 tons. Most of this weight is due to the number of not only options but safety features stuffed in this two seater. The black paint on this Benz looks great and compliments the body lines nicely. Now sporting a 1 inch drop using official Mercedes aftermarket parts it not only looks aggressive but can carve up any stretch of backwoods country road you throw at it. Choose between the hard top which truly makes the car look like a true coupe or the black soft top which can be put up with the flick of a button. Of course the reason you want this car is its top down appeal. Once again with the push of a button the rear hatch pops open and the soft cloth top folds nicely and into the hatch, closing up nicely and completing its transformation. I say transformation because with the top down it does not look like a so called convertible of the norm. It looks like a true and proper 2 seat roadster. Of course with the top down everyone can see in which no problem with the plush tan interior is showing no signs of aging what so ever.
