The Mercedes-Benz SL Class is a luxury roadster that was first introduced for the 1954 model year. The SL designation was first applied to the 300 SL and has since been marketed in many variations with numerous engine configurations that span 6 design generations. The 3rd generation SL was available from 1972 – 1989. In 1986 it received many desirable updates some of which include the more efficient 4 pot brakes with larger discs, an updated suspension (derived from the E Class sedans), Burl wood trim accents, carpeting that matches the leather, a full size spare, a temperature gauge, factory a/c and power windows.
