.....The American poet Robert Frost once wrote: “In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on.” Frankly, I can’t think of a better tagline for the Mercedes-Benz W123, either. It really does go on. And on. And on. We’re written a lot about these iconic Mercedes sedans, coupes and estates, but these cars have a timeless appeal backed up by frugal engines. This final year 300CD coupe has the 3.0 liter turbocharged inline-5 diesel under the hood. It might not be a terribly fast car, but it blends economy with a level of class you just can’t match in most modern cars
I am pleased to offer this 1985 Mercedes 300 CD Turbo (Diesel) for consideration. The last year off the infamous W123 platform, these were incredibly popular cars that dominated the luxury market with wait lists surpassing a year in the 1980’s. These are referenced as the “go forever” cars. The 3.0 liter inline 5 cylinder diesel that this vehicle possesses is considered by Hagerty to be one of the most reliable engines ever built on any vehicle. Many are still on the road today worldwide. They are popular in Africa as “bush taxis”, covering thousands of miles on subpar terrain with very limited maintenance. Many environmentalists seek these engines due to the ease of running them on vegetable oil and other biodiesel fuels.
This 300 CD was brought to me by a collector who cared and stored his W123’s in a heated inside space. The interior is in great condition It starts and drives exactly how you expect this reliable diesel to do so. This car is an impressive version in 2013 of the legendary series. a steal, envy of the town come on down $4300 drives her off to a new home. SERIOUS ONLY PLEASE SOLD
