Below is basically a cut and paste of the add I put on craigslist. I understand that you guys know about this car already, I just didn't want to re-type everything.
Up for sale is a very rare car. A 1970 Lotus Europa S2. VIN 65/2609
I am looking to relocate in the next few months and do not plan on taking this car with me.
This car is rough and will need a total restoration. The car's engine is missing and was like that when I got the car. The transmission and rear diff are still in the car. The car hasn't been touched since I picked it up as I have 3 other cars ahead of it in forms of projects. The interior needs a total overhaul, the door panels are there, the dash is there the center console is there, the seats are not, the wood dash will need to be refinished.
A little history on the car. The Lotus Europa was the first mid-engine car ever produced. It has a full fiberglass body, and from what I have been told it only weighs about 1400lbs., that includes the weight of the stock engine. It was meant to be a street legal race car. There were only about 9800 Europa's produced in all, and this is one of the last of Series 2 type 65/xxxx, what that means is even though there were 9800 produced, this care is one of the last of less than 375 in it's series. This particular car had been sitting in the previous owners garage since 1987, until I bought it last year in 2009. Since that time, it has been sitting in my mothers garage, covered and untouched.
This car is rough, body is in good shape, remember there is no rust as the car is totally fiberglass.
I live in Acworth, and the car is located at my mothers house, in her garage in Gainesville. For this reason, it will be difficult to get additional pictures unless it happens to be around one of the weekends I am able to make it up there.
I don't know much more than what I have posted here, however, if you have any questions, please contact me and I will do my best to answer them.
Serious inquiries only, $1,850 obo.
