Rare, Highly Original, Low-KM 1979 Lincoln Mark V Collector Series
Lincoln only built the Continental Mark V for three short years, but managed to sell almost 275,000 of the personal luxury coupes in that time. These 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V Collector’s Series were produced in just a fraction of that number, with Lincoln manufacturing a total of 6,262 in all colors, and just 3,900 in Midnight Blue Metallic. This one is well equipped with a factory power moonroof, the Quad-8 8-track stereo/radio, and the full gamut of power features. These features include steering, brakes, locks, windows, seats, air conditioning & cruise control. A Luxury Feel when driving this rear wheel drive vehicle!
POWERTRAIN
All of these cars featured a 400-cu.in. V-8, and with just 58,300 KM (34,980 miles), this engine is in nearly new condition like the rest of the car. The engine bay is extremely clean with all of the original paint markings, decals and finishes in place. The transmission is a Select-Shift automatic, the marketing designation for Ford’s C6 three-speed automatic.
EXTERIOR
The car was originally finished in Midnight Blue Metallic, one of just two colors for the Collector’s Series in 1979, and one of just 3,900 produced. The paint is accented with a triple gold pinstripe that runs from the front fender all the way to where it terminates at the rear bumper filler. The paint condition is excellent. The car features a matching Midnight Blue landau top, with matching upholstery on the vestigial spare tire hump. The quality of the vinyl is excellent. The roof also features a factory power glass moonroof, which is fully operational. All of the exterior trim – grille, bumpers, hood ornament, emblems – are also in excellent condition.
INTERIOR
The photos of the interior show a passenger cabin that is immaculate and factory correct. The blue Kasman II luxury cloth upholstery has no damage, staining or collapsed seat foam on either the driver’s or the passenger’s side. The driver’s seat has six-way power adjustment, with a power reclining feature for the passenger. The console is upholstered in padded leather, and accented with wood-tone trim. The thick pile, 36-ounce carpet is vibrant blue. The high-touch areas of the door panels – tops, door pulls, armrests – appear very good. The dash pad is wrapped in blue leather and has no damage.
OTHER NOTABLE FEATURES
These cars came with some interesting extra features. The vehicle is complete with a leather bound owners manual, leather bound tool kit, leather bound umbrella and believe it or not a golf putter, all original from the factory.
