Jaguar has always built the most graceful convertibles. The E type has stood the test of time and is recognized as one of the most beautiful convertibles ever produced. In 1975 Jaguar replaced the E Type with a completely different car. The XJS was a dynamic sporting coupe that caught the attention of the automotive enthusiasts worldwide. A huge success, the XJS became one of the world greatest Coupes.
In the 1980's Jaguar was under pressure from market demand to build a convertible. Many customers also wanted a manual transmission and a 6-cylinder engine to replace the massive V12. Jaguar met that demand and quickly put the XJSC into production. These special cars combined the quietness and refinement of the Coupe while opening up the car like a Targa. Very few XJSC's were built. In the 4-year production run, only 4993 were produced. Of those 1132 were produced with a 3.6 liter 6 cylinder engine. Of those, only 430 were left hand drive. The XJSC presented here is an ultra rare 5 speed manual 6-cylinder example.
This is NOT a typical XJS. It is the rarest form of the rarest model. Prior to this car, we had never experienced a manual transmission XJS. Believed to be the only one in the US in this configuration on the market, this is an extremely rare opportunity to own not only a piece of Jaguar history, but also a thrilling car to drive.
This car is unbelievably smooth, responsive, and fun. Being that it is a 6 cylinder, it is lighter than a traditional XJSC and handles better. This car does not look or feel like a 30 year old motorcar. Its white paint gleams and has barely any blemishes. All of the components of the top are in beautiful condition. The two removable parts to the top fit beautifully. They are in the condition one would expect from a car of this calibur and are all original. The folding rear top is beautiful. It is close to flawless and has a perfectly clear rear window. Inside the wood is beautiful and the dark blue leather is soft, supple, and shows almost no wear.
