1938 JAGUAR SS 100 REPLICA BY SUFFOLK SPORTS CARS.
This is a high quality replica made by the Suffolk Sports Cars ltd. of
Great Britain. I assembled the car myself starting with a Suffolk supplied BCA (body chassis assembly), on which was sitting unattached, the fiberglass body, front and rear suspension, rear drive, all lines, brakes, and wiring loom. I personally completed the rest of the build with the exception of Paint and prep, and upholstery. I am 65 years old and a veteran of many, many auto restorations on all types of British cars, so feel that the build is of a semi-professional quality, and maybe better because there was no clock to watch. This car was designed with the goal in mind of building a car that was visually almost identical to the genuine item, but with the advantage of reliability and safety of modern mechanical components.
All during the build up I endeavored to use the highest quality components, and workmanship. The beautiful “Black Cherry” paint is a single stage poly-urethane which has been sanded and buffed to a finish equal to a show car. The interior is upholstered using genuine red Connolly leather as used on all Jaguars down through the ages, and the matching red genuine “wilton” wool carpeting is the highest quality attainable. All chromed accessories were furnished by “Suffolk”, and are of a very high show quality finish. Likewise the 18” chrome (stainless steel spokes) wire wheels which are the same diameter and width of that used on an original SS 100, but with more spokes for safety considerations. In fact, most of the accessories used on this car were built for use in the restoration of original SS 100’s and are interchangeable with the genuine items. The 5 1/2 x18 inch “Blockley” racing tires, are 6 ply high speed rated and were produced specifically for use in Vintage racing venues.
This car is all Jaguar with a 4.2 litre, engine out of a 1969 XKE, Jaguar 4 speed manual trans, w/an overdrive 5th gear. Rear drive and suspension is also XKE. The car looks so much like the real thing that it will fool all but the most observant spectator. All gauges, switches, demensions, and trip items are parts that were made as replacement original parts on genuine SS100 restorations. The top, side curtains, top boot, and tonneau cover are high quality cloth and fit excellent. The car runs and drives like a restored XKE, except it only weighs in at 2200 lbs. With upgrades to the E type engine it is producing about 275 ghp, and is much faster than the 69 E type.
Please call for a much more detailed list of specification, and many more pictures which I have. These can also be viewed on Ebay under the Classic Car section for "Jaguar". Please Call "Mike" at (417)886-2441, in Springfield Missouri for additional specs and terms, or to inspect the car in person.
