For sale in our Chicago showroom is a 1969 Jaguar E-Type Roadster. This vehicle is the recipient of a full frame off restoration a few years ago that was completed to very high standards and used sparingly ever since. Included are service records and documentation dating all the way back to the 1980’s and are a true testament to the meticulous care this car has received throughout the years. This fine example of English style and engineering is finished in Regency Red with beige leather interior and matching beige convertible top. Much attention has been paid to detail during the restoration and the fit and finish on this car is exceptional. Under the bonnet is the original 4.2 Liter Hanes XK6 engine with dual Zenith Stromberg carburetors producing 246 horsepower. This engine was designed using highly skilled engineering originally intended for aircrafts and has maintained a consistent track record of reliability from 1949 – 1992. This smooth running 6 cylinder is mated to a 4-speed full synchromesh gearbox and durable Salisbury hypoid rear end that featured a Powr-Lok limited-slip differential. The series 2 E-Types were manufactured from 1968 – 1971 and are considered to be the best and most reliable drivers of the E-Type line. The styling of the E-type proved to be timeless with accolades from the very beginning including a nod from Enzo Ferrari himself who referred to the vehicle as “The most beautiful car ever made”. In March of 2008 it was ranked #1 of the 100 most beautiful cars of all time by The Daily Telegraph.
