For sale in our Chicago showroom is this stunning 1938 Ford Pickup. 1938 brought a slight restyle of the pickup, the first since 1935. The recession was hitting harder on the U.S.A. which hurt production numbers, making this a rare surviving car. This ford is believed to have the original 221 CID Ford Flathead V8 engine which would have produced a rated 85 horsepower. The 3 gears are selected manually through a column shift and power is directed to the rear wheels. The truck has been used in many parades by the current owner and has had some upgrades installed. Specifically, strobe lights mounted in the front grille and, more importantly, the mechanical fan was upgraded to an electrical fan to avoid overheating while driving at slow speeds. The entire car was restored sometime in the last 20 years, and has been very well taken care of since then. The paint still shows very well, and the wood lining the bed of the truck looks brand new. The interior of the car remains as it did from the factory, with the exception of a few added switches to control the strobe lights. This vehicle would make for a great cruiser; just pop open the front windshield and feel the breeze as you get thumbs up from oncoming traffic as you leave your worries behind.Being a truck from America’s early automotive history, there weren’t many luxury options installed. Other than having the larger of 2 V8 engines installed, there weren’t many options from the factory. Current options include: Hubcaps, Leather Interior, and White Wall Tires.
