For sale in our Chicago showroom is this rare pre-production 2009 Ford Mustang Bullitt edition. This Mustang traces its roots back to 1968 when the movie “Bullitt” starring Steve McQueen had been released. The film is a cult classic among car guys due to the 9-minute car chase between a Dodge Charger and a Highland Green Ford Mustang GT-390. This particular Mustang is powered by Fords 4.6l V8 engine putting out a respectable 315 horsepower, slightly more than a standard GT. Power then flows back through a 5-speed manual transmission into the Ford 8.8 rear end where a set of 3.73:1 gears put power to both rear wheels.
This particular Mustang is special, not only because it is the limited “Bullitt” edition, but also because it is a pre-production car; specifically, pre-production PP01. The factory Dark Highland Green paint is in very good overall condition showing minimal wear. The level of care continues to the interior of the car with the seats appearing to be in new condition, minimal wear on the radio, window switches, and other commonly used interfaces. The dash has a very retro feel to it, with custom gauges only available to the Bullitt edition.
This Bullitt is a throwback to the cars of an era slowly fading. You can bring back the raw feel of a sleeper V8 in this superb special edition Mustang.
