1972 Mustang Sprint ( Olympic Sprint Edition )
During 1972, Ford offered a special eye-catching "Red, White & Blue" color styling package with bold USA Shield decals to commemorate the 1972 USA Olympic Team.

The Sprint Decor Option Group was available between March and June of 1972. The Sprint promotion celebrated the 1972 Summer Olympic Games, officially known as the XXth Olympiad in Munich, Germany and the XI Olympic Winter Games in Sapporo, Japan. Ford's USA Sprint Cars promoted our Olympic Team achievements in the double Olympic year of 1972.

The Sprint Decor Option was offered on Mustangs, Pintos and Mavericks. Ford's Olympic Sprint salute was orchestrated to add mid-year flash to the 1972 advertising campaign, and bring more customers into Ford dealership showrooms.

In 1972, Edsel B. Ford was the Merchandising Manager for the Ford Division. Only 24 years old, Edsel had a keen eye for automotive trends both good and bad. He was know to be fond of special trim packages. Ford directed his staff to come up with a saleable treatment that would be tailored to the Mustang, Maverick and Pinto product lines. The marketing boys came up with the Sprint Decor Option to celebrated the 1972 Olympics.

The Sprint Decor Option Package included; Classic white body paint with a racy splash of blue, and a sporty streak of red. Only ( 9,383 ) Mustang Sprints of varying body styles were produced between March and June of 1972.

THIS CAR WAS ENVOVLED IN A MINOR FENDER BENDER EARLY ON IN ITS LIFE THE ORIGINAL OWNER WAS AN ELDERLY MAN AND HE DIDNT RELIZE THAT THE BODY SHOP PUT ON THE WRONG BUMPER AND GRILLE .I HAVE A BUMPER IT HAS NO BRACKETS AND THE CAR HAS A STANDARD GRILLE INSTEAD OF THE MACH1 GRILLE

THIS CAR DOES RUN BUT NEEDS TO BE RESTORED IT HAS SOME RUST AROUND THE TRUNK LID AND THE BOTTOM OF THE REAR WINDOW, THE MOTOR RUNS BUT IT SMOKES AFTER IT WARMS UP I DO DRIVE IT AROUND MY YARD I AM CURRENTLY USING A BOAT TANK TO DELIVER THE FUEL THE GAS TANK I REMOVED BECAUSE THE TRUNK FLOOR WAS STARTING TO RUST AND THE TOP OF THE TANK WAS STARTING TO PIT AND RUST.
