At first glance this 1962 Galaxie 500 looks like just a beautiful frame off restoration on a Galaxie 500 instead of an awesome sleeper, but the closer you look the more rare this car becomes from its G-code VIN # to its rare hood ornament. With the exception of the under dash gages, the car looks original with its Ford factory door mirrors, stainless window vent trim, wire spoke hubcaps, bullet bumper guards, front and rear, and all of its correct badging in place.
The interior is very nice and the dash and dash trim are exceptional. The factory AM radio is still in place and it works as does turn signals, back up lights and other functions.
The exterior shows off beautiful straight sheet metal with even body gaps and slick glossy paint. All brite work from bumpers to every other piece of trim is as new. All glass is tinted and excellent. The trunk is new and original with factory trunk mat, spare, and jack in place. The engine compartment is highly detailed and looks as new as the rest of the car.
The car now has a 428 CI Cobra jet engine with the correct cast iron exhaust manifolds and a top loader 4-speed transmission, both of which came from a 1968 Mustang donor car.
The way the car is now set up makes it a better driver, but there is a buildable 406 CI engine available for the person that wants it to be a 406 CI. The engine and drive train was rebuilt new upon restoration of the car. The engine runs strong and smooth. Transmission, 3.55 gear ratio, and rear end are good without issues. Brakes are factory 4 wheel drum; steering and suspension are factory and all in very good condition.
