This is a extremely rare 1966 Ford Fairlane factory race car. One of 6 prototypes (only 3 remain)ordered by the Ford Motor Company for their racing program and built by Holman/Moody racing contactor for Ford. This car was raced from 1966 to 1970 by a Ford dealer in Alabama. Car was ordered by Ford through its DSO 84 program which meant the car was built for special use. (Similiar to Chevy's COPO program)If you refer to the door tag you will notice the car came through with a 'T' code 6 cylinder engine, code 'E' 3.50 Detroit Locker rear end and code '5' heavy duty toploader 4 speed transmission. H-M then pulled the 6 cylinder engine and replaced it with a 427 tunnel port engine that originally had 14 to 1 compression which has been currently lowered to 11 to 1 to run on high octane racing fuel. H-M built this engine using Ford Lemans connecting rods (replaced with Eagle forged H-beam rods), Special Ford pistons known as Pike's Peak now replaced during rebuild with Speed Pro flat top pistons. Ford supplied a custom high lift racing cam (specs unknown) which has been replaced with a Lunati 593/598 lift with 248 @.50 lift. This H-M 427 engine was completely put back to todays racing specs.and currently wrapped in a plastic bag.
The Fairlane is currently powered by a 428 Cobra Jet motor with Edelbrock aluminum heads C6ME block. The 428 Cobra Jet motor is equipped with a tunnel wedge dual quad intake and mild cam. The car is also currently equipped with a TKO 600 5 speed transmission and still retains its H-M 4.56 rear gears and Moser axle and nodular rear with Detroit Locker. The car can be purchased 2 ways. First, with the current Cobra Jet engine installed or with the original racing H-M engine. You may also purchase with both engines. I have the original 4 speed crash box transmission and vertigate shifter. I have replaced all suspension pieces and all related bushings front and rear. The rear suspension is ladder bar design. I have owned this car 12 years. The car has original paint over the original factory sheet metal with no rust. The blue vinyl/cloth factory interior,is in very good condition. Everything in the car works. I even have the original book that came with the car which tells you how to set up the car for racing. This race car tuned for street use is not for the timid! This is your opportunity to own a piece of Ford's racing history. Please call Larry 866-403-7034 for further information. This car is currently stored and garaged at my Ohio home. Test pilots, tire kickers or dreamers need not apply.
