The Dodge B-series pickup trucks replaced the prewar model and were sold from 1948-1953. The B Series trucks came in several different variants. The B1-B were ½ ton trucks equipped with a 6 cylinder 95 hp flathead while the B1-C were ¾ ton trucks with a 108 hp flathead. The B Series trucks featured a high visibility cab with optional rear quarter windows. The engine was shifted forward and the front axle moved back on the frame for better weight distribution as well as a shorter wheelbase. The cargo bed sides were made higher to increase capacity by 40%. The redesigned cab could seat three people and was mounted on rubber mounts for an improved ride. Another innovation for the time was the use of a cross steering arrangement, giving the trucks a 37° turning radius. This particular example is a B1-B with the optional rear quarter windows. It has a rock solid frame and retains its original 218 ci 6 cylinder flathead engine that still runs great. The speedometer is working and currently shows 60,318 miles. The previous owner was in the process of stripping all of the paint off it when he passed away which is why the truck has become available in its present condition. The nice thing about this truck is that all of the issues can be seen from the exposed metal and the truck is quite solid overall. The cab floor has been replaced and new metal bed strips will be included with your purchase. The truck is road worthy with a solid driveline, new brakes and operable running lights. There are a few items not working such as the horn, the turn signals and the windshield wipers (missing wiper arms). This is a perfect project because you can drive it while you work on it. We would classify this as a number 4 vehicle and would appraise it at $12,600 accordingly. We have priced it well below that figure and are still encouraging offers. If you could see this gem sitting in your garage you better call us before it’s too late! For more pictures and a video of the engine visit HotRodsChoppers.com SOLD
