The marque was founded by Walter Chrysler and was to complete with the mid range manufacturers. The brand saw immediate success selling over 81,000 cars in 1929. This was a 1 year brand record until the introduction of the Ford Falcon in 1960. Into the 30s and 40s, American automobiles got their style from streamlining. Long sweeping curves and aerodynamic shapes were popular and this 1939 model has the look. The rounded front face cuts through the air and the softly sloping rear deck makes for a very attractive 2 door sedan. This particular all steel DeSoto has been street rodded to give some more performance as well as quite a few more features.
