The Nissan S30 was the first generation 2 seat coupe produced by Nissan and was introduced in 1969 as a Fair Lady in Japan and was marketed as a Datsun 240Z then later as the 260Z and 280Z in the U.S. The 240Z was released in America on October 22, 1969. The 260Z was released in 1974 and featured an increased engine displacement of 2.6 L and an available 2+2 model with a slightly longer wheelbase. The 280Z was released in 1975 in North America and featured another engine displacement enlargement to 2.8 L. A major change was the introduction of Bosch fuel injection which resulted in a power increase to 170 hp, offsetting increased weight from added luxury features and an enlarged bumper that met US Federal regulations. 1978 was the last year of the Z car before Nissan changed to the ZX body style. This particular example is a 1 owner car that was purchased new from Heinz Datsun in Decatur, IL on April 1, 1978. It was optioned in Gold Metallic with an Off White interior. The selling dealer installed A/C, black side moldings and rust proofed it before it was delivered. The car currently has 37,253 original miles and is completely original with the exception of normal wear items such as the tires, brakes, battery and exhaust. It has been service regularly and was just completely gone through to ensure it is in perfect mechanical condition. It has never been driven in the winter and shows incredibly well.
