For sale in our Louisville showroom is this survivor 1948 Chrysler Windsor Coupe. In 1940, the Windsor came in either long or short wheelbase versions as a 6-passenger sedan, a 6-passenger coupe, a convertible, a Victoria sedan, or an 8-passenger sedan. Production ended in January, 1942, as all automobile companies in the USA switched to war production. After the war, the Windsor was put back into production. It was similar to the 1942 models. New things included a hand brake warning signal that warned that the hand brake was not fully released, and a new grill. This particular ’48 Chrysler Windsor Coupe is basically the way it came in 1948. Considered a “barn find” or a “survivor” car this Windsor Coupe appears to have mostly original paint with the exception of the left side being repainted at sometime many years ago. Under the hood, you will find the original 250.6 CID L-head engine that produced 114 horsepower from the factory. This engine has been mated to Chrysler Fluid Dyne transmission. Inside the cabin is the original interior. It shows some wear, but is overall in good shape for a 56 year old car. Options for this 1948 Chrysler Windsor Coupe include; Factory AM Radio, manual brakes, manual steering, cloth interior, and steel wheels with Wide Whitewall Bias Ply tires. If you’re ready to cruise worry free and have fun doing it then this is the car for you.
