The 51 Chevy Styleline Deluxe was originally built as a gasser in 1969. Although a new 327 V-8 motor was installed, posi rearend and Borg Warner 4 speed, the car was never completed and raced in a gasser class. The car then went into storage and remained until 2014. I bought the car in 2014 after it was out of storage. It spent the next 1 1/2 years at the American Gasser Shop. A new straight axle with disc brakes were installed. Several exterior patch panels were installed to repair some rust. The frame and floor did not need any repairs. The motor was found to be in like new condition, with a 1968 build date and the Holley carburetors were rebuilt. A new fuel pump was mounted near the gas tank in the rear of the car. The heads are camel back and the part number indicates they could be 1.94 or 2.02 valves. New tires were installed on the original Ansen wheels. The rearend was replaced with a heavier duty nova reinforced, 4:56 with a spool and all Moser internal parts. A new off switch was installed in the rear. A driveshaft loop was installed. The vintage tach and interior guages from the original build are operable. There is a vintage wood steering wheel that remains from the 1st build. The electrical system has been upgraded to 12 volts. I have the Mallory distributor and coil from the first build and plan to have them rebuilt. Currently we are using a new stock distributor and coil. The back seat and door panels are done in black Naugahyde with button tuffs. A new rollbar was constructed and installed. Simpson harness is installed. Partial trades will be considered.
