As you can see, this car appears to be… missing a few bits. They’re not missing – they’ve been purposefully removed to make this a sleeker and more streamlined Chevy. Notably, the door handles have been shaved, the front grille has been re-designed, the headlights and 1959 Cadillac tail lights have been frenched in, and the car has been nosed and decked as well. Some of the other trim on the rocker panels and rear fenders of the car has also been shaved. What you’re left with is a clean cut design that stands out the crowd. The louvered hood is another sweet touch that looks awesome and is a real throwback to the era of true “kustom” hot rods.
The paint, though its colors are great, is not finished – it could do with a wet sand and buffing job, and then you’d be well on your way to having one of the sweetest 1950 Chevies at any car show. The wide whitewalls and full moon hubcaps complete the look, and as you can see, the car has been lowered with drop spindles in the front. Behind those hubcaps are a set of front disc brakes that make this a great-stopping automobile, better than when it was new.
Under the hood, the original inline-6 engine is still present. It’s got Fenton headers and has been converted to 12 volt electrical as well. The 3-speed manual transmission, which used to be on the steering column, has been moved to the floor. All in all, this is a unique throwback to a bygone era of hot rod and custom car culture that only needs a few touches to make it your own. As it is, you’ll barely be able to respond to all of the friendly waves and thumbs up you’ll get as you go down the road. With a little bit more work, you can have a place at the front of any car show.
