For sale in our Chicago showroom is this original, numbers matching 1972 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. This first generation beauty was designed by Chevrolet to be built off the same platform as the Chevelle, which shows it's many similarities, but also introduced many of the luxury designs found in the Cadillac El Dorado. First designed in 1970, these were very well-optioned cars for this era. They did not stray away from the ideas that American cars, while being large and comfortable, should not be lacking in horsepower. This Monte Carlo is built with a smallblock 350 cubic inch engine, which is one of the most produced engines to date. While it's the original engine from 1972, a four-barrel carburetor, intake with chrome valve covers, and KM chrome air filter have been added. The 1972 Monte Carlo was the final year for the first generation design. In 1972, Chevrolet wanted to change the market position of the Monte Carlo to a personal luxury car, and the manual transmission was discontinued, to which the new car brochure simply stated,
