The Malibu is a mid sized car manufactured by Chevrolet from 1964–1983 and from 1997 to present. It began as a trim-level of the Chevelle but became its own model line in 1978. The fourth generation Malibu’s were produced from 1978-1983 and was marketed as a much more efficient car being over a foot shorter and close to a 1,000 pounds lighter. Despite its smaller size it was still able to offer increased trunk space, leg room and head room. There were only two trim lines offered, the Malibu and the Malibu Classic. 1981 marked the last year of the 2 door coupe. This particular example is nicely equipped with A/C (not working), power windows, power locks, cruise control and tilt steering. It was originally equipped with a 140hp 250ci V8 and a Turbo 250 transmission. It now has a 350ci V8 with a 4 bolt main that is estimated to produce close to 300hp. The transmission is now a Turbo 350 with a shift kit, a 400 converter and a trans cooler. Both the engine and tranny were replaced in 2010 and have only been driven about 3,000 miles since. It was repainted in 2011 at which time the owner added a nice set of Keystone Classic rims and it shows great! In 2012 the front seats were recovered and the headliner was replaced. It is currently in need of a heater core and the stereo was removed but is included with your purchase. It also has a sunroof and it does not leak. All said and done over $12,000 was invested to bring this beauty to its present condition. We are serious about selling it and have priced at less than half of what has been invested in it.
