1966 Chevrolet Impala Super Sport For Sale
Up for sale in our Houston showroom is one of Chevrolet’s most successful full-size cars, the Impala. The Impala has been a car to take a break then be brought back to the market and did just that after be introduced in 1958 and ending in 1985 just to do the same thing in 1994-1996 then came back in 2000 and is still in production today. The fourth generation of Impalas received a new look in 1965 which the 66’ carried over as its own. From 1964 through 1967, the Super Sport was a separate model, with its own VIN prefix (168, versus the 164 for the regular Impala). The 1966 Impala SS was facelifted with a revised grille and new rectangular taillights that replaced the triple round units. A chrome beltline strip shared with regular Impalas was added in response to complaints about door dings on the clean-lined 1965s. Inside were new Strato bucket seats with thinner and higher seat backs, and a center console with an optional gauge package available. Sales of the 1966 Impala SS dropped by more than 50% to around 117,000 units; this was mainly due to the sport/performance car market switching from full-sized models to intermediates. This Impala has been given a huge 454 C.I.D V8 engine upgrade with only 5,000 miles since being rebuilt that sits beside a 3 speed automatic transmission and backed by a 12 bolt rear end. This Super Sport is showing off it’s gorgeous Black exterior paint and Black vinyl interior. The options on this Chevrolet Impala SS include: am/fm radio, performance tires, power brakes, power steering, radial tires, rally wheels, seat belts and tilt wheel.
