1960 Impala sedan. 348 big block with factory auto transmission. I have checked the casting number, suffix code, and intake numbers and date. Everything I've found points to this being the original engine. Intake is date coded to 1960. Suffix code is H. This engine lists as being used in 4-barrel car with turboglide transmission, which is right for this car. Trim tag and vin tag are on the car. Trim tag info all matches the car also. The ACC options from the tag, were a padded dash and tinted glass. The engine in this car runs great. No smoke, ticks or knocks. No noticeable leaks and I had it in my shop for a couple weeks. Starts up every time. The transmission works with no slipping. Nothing abnormal. No blowby. The car runs and drives, but is not a driver. It will need some maintenance before being able to be a driver. It needs exhaust and the carb rebuilt. I would also recommend new fluids, plugs/wires and the other usual tuneup stuff. The brakes work but need bled, checked, and/or adjusted. This does have power brakes. The tires are in nice shape and on the original rims. The tires are studded so if you want to use them, you'll need to pull the studs which is easy. Here is the info on the body: The car has some rust. Not bad for an impala this year. The front floorpans need replaced. This is common and they are available from multiple suppliers. The rear pans have rust too in front of the seat where your feet sit. Below the rear seat is fine. Rockers and sills are fine. Both doglegs behind the rear doors have rust. It's not bad but I'd just replace them. Rust low behind both rear wheels. This is common also and those panels are cheap to buy and fairly easy to install. The trunk pan has some rust. It would be usable with some por15 and a new trunk mat. It should be replaced though if your doing a restoration. The interior all needs re-done but it's all original and all there. This still has the original impala keychain from the dealer. It was bought new in Colville Washington at Ted Chevrolet. The car has no filler that I've seen or could find with a paint thickness meter. The car has a few light dents. Nothing that isn't fixable for a decent bodyman. You can see in the pics. I have more pics I can send for serious buyers. Thanks. SOLD
