For sale in our St. Louis showroom is a true 1969 Chevrolet El Camino SS. Not many know that this vehicle was first debuted in 1959 and lasted until 1987 with only 4 short years on hiatus. While Gunsmoke was on CBS and Sugar Sugar by The Archies was on the radio, this El Camino was cruising done the street brand new! Originally equipped with a 396 CID V8, this Chevy now has a 454 High Output V8 engine to muscle it along. Backing the 454 engine is the original Muncie 4-spd manual transmission. Both the engine and trans have just 3500 miles on them since they were rebuilt. In actuality, the engine is a new GM Performance engine that is still making its way through the break in period. Following the drive train is a new Detroit TrueTrac rear-end with 3.08 gears for great cruising efficiency. Now this El Camino has no problem cruising at 75 mph highway speed. Don't worry about low end torque, the 454 engine has plenty of it on tap. Options include: CD player, power brakes, power steering, tilt wheel, seat belts, vinyl interior, radial tires, and aluminum/alloy wheels. The power brakes and steering make this classic ride enjoyable anywhere you desire. Recently added includes new bed sides, wheel housings, chrome bumpers, and other trim replaced. The exterior was repainted a clean Viper Red with black hood stripes that is showroom quality.
