For sale in our Orlando showroom is a 1966 Chevrolet Corvair. The Corvair from Chevrolet came at a time when America's auto makers were producing one size of vehicle, large. Seeing the trend start to unfold in the late 50's towards smaller more economical imports, Chevrolet jumped on the design bandwagon to bring their own flavor to the lineup. Built to compete against foreign competitors such as the Type 3 VW and Fiat 1300 the Corvair also held its own with domestic offerings such as the Ford Falcon and Plymouth Valiant. In 1960 the first Corvairs were well received by the press and the general public for its engineering, style, and performance. Providing a plethora of firsts for GM such as uni body construction, 4 wheel independent suspension, and air cooled flat 6 cylinder engine it's easy to see why this was the Motor trend car of the year for 1960.
