For sale in our Chicago showroom is a hard-to-find classic 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454. The late �60s saw the birth of the Muscle Car movement that became a phenomenon throughout the entire world. By the 1970�s the �Big 3� were in competition to create muscle cars that could be custom ordered with big block engines and other high performance options. The Chevrolet Chevelle was the Zenith of the line and the SS 454 set the bar for all muscle cars of that era. This LS5 is a prime example of a numbers matching big-block with all of good stuff. To start this Cranberry Red beauty has gleaming paint with a black stripe running past the chrome hood pins right up to the vacuum powered cowl induction. The contrast continues with a period correct vinyl top. 1971 was the first year for the round taillights that gave the Chevelle its own personality and a classic design that has remained popular for decades. This numbers matching 454 cubic inch V8 was exclusive to the SS models and displaced 365 horsepower and 465 lbs. ft. of torque. A copy of the original build sheet is included on this SS. This car sounds great as it breathes through the ceramic coated Headmen headers to the dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. The transmission is the Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 that helps this baby cruise with little effort. The black vinyl bench seat as well as all other interior components are believed to be original.
