This is a 1969 300 Deluxe Sport Coupe (non-post) with the highly coveted Z25 option making it a TRUE SS 396 four speed car. The SS396 package gave it the 396 engine, 4 speed transmission, f40 suspension and front power disc brakes.
It was ordered in Code #72 Monaco Orange. (Better known as Hugger Orange) The only way a Chevelle can be ordered with this color is as a true 69 Super Sport. The cowl tag does show the 72 paint code.
The 300 Deluxe was a very basic vehicle with no frills making it popular among the drag racers. Usually the 300s’ interior were very simple with rubber mats rather than carpet. This one I’m told was ordered with carpet, gauges and an AM radio.
This sport coupe combination is RARE.
This Chevelle and its’ 396 engine left the factory in mid April 1969. Just not together. The vehicle left the Freemont California plant the second week of April 1969. Its’ non-original motor left the Tonawanda New York factory April 16th! (T 04 16 JA)
The Chevelle was an eastern Oregon car with very very little rust encountered. As the photos show. It had about 113K miles when it began a complete professional restoration by a Dealership in the state of Washington. It has had about 3k miles put on it since.
Allot of care was taken to keep this Chevelle close to its’ roots. The original steel body parts and most of its’ original components remain. Re manufactured and finished to “better than new” condition. The paint and body work is second to none.
The brakes were upgraded to four wheel power discs for safety. The calipers are stock in style and are painted Gunmetal Grey to match the larger 18x9.5”and 17X7” Coy wheels. As with all the components, the rear end was completely gone through and posi 3:55 1 gears installed. The lower control arms are boxed and the uppers are adjustable. A new balanced driveshaft was installed. The transmission was completely rebuilt and a new Hurst shifter was installed.
The undercarriage is beautiful. the floorboards are lightly rock coated with the orange paint in the mix and clear-coated. The frame was primed and painted gloss black and the coated headers lead through Flowmaster pipes and Magnaflow mufflers out through correct tips.. It sounds and drives awesome.
The strong 396 looks very stock. But in fact it has been balanced and roller rockers and cam were added. Electronic ignition and the Edelbrock aluminum intake is disguised as stock. It has a Holley carb.
This is a professionally built frame off high quality restoration with minimal miles since it was built. This is a multiple Best In Show car.
