For Sale in our St. Louis showroom is a rare 1971 Chevrolet C20 Longhorn edition. Offered in a 3/4 ton or 1 ton version, the Longhorn had a limited production run from 1968 to 1972. The frame is the main thing that sets the Longhorn apart from other Chevrolet trucks. It measures 133 inches, 6 inches longer than the long box frame of 127 inches. The extra 6 inches is at the front of the bed, making it 8 1/2 feet long. The easiest way to tell a Longhorn edition apart from the other Chevrolet trucks is the Longhorn badge on either side of the bed. All Chevrolet Longhorns came with wooden beds and seven or eight leaf, leaf springs instead of the weaker coils found on most trucks of this time period. The reason the Longhorn edition was produced was to capitalize on the popular camper craze of the time. The Longhorn could accommodate the largest camper on the market at the time. Many of these Longhorn trucks were also put to work, as the longer bed obviously provided more room for hauling.
