Lovingly referred to as "Smoother Mover II", this 1958 Chevy Apache Shortbed Pickup is a fresh restoration packed with personalized custom touches. Except for the engine machine work and exhaust system, the owner is given full credit for the countless shop hours taken to design and execute the build of this gorgeous masterpiece. This show quality pickup was treated to a no expense spared full frame off, nut and bolt restoration. It was also featured in the annual edition of Street Rod Milestones magazine showcasing its uniqueness, creativity and individuality.
Exterior: There are no disappointments in the fit and finish of this custom truck. The lines and body panels are perfectly laser straight. The multitude of custom touches include a fully louvered hood, shaved door handles, 60" LED tail light, molded tailgate, and rolled rear pan. The bed incorporates a custom fuel cell below and is covered on the sides by a custom bed liner and on the bottom by beautifully crafted hardwood. This truck has one of the most unique features found on a '58 Apache anywhere, making it stand out apart from the rest of the show truck crowd - called taillights to tailpipes. The taillight area offers a unique exhaust outlet. The builder incorporated that 60" LED tail light in the filled and molded tailgate of the truck so the exhaust could be routed through the original light location!
Interior: The interior of this custom truck features plush Oyster-colored captain's styled power leather seating, a smoothed and filled dash finished in the exterior matching VW Blue Metallic, tilt steering column, billet steering wheel and a floor-mounted, cable-operated B&M MegaShifter automatic shifter.
Engine and Driveline: Here's where the "Mover" part of the truck's name comes in! The engine is a professionally built '76 Chevy big block, bored .060 over to 468 cu. in., fully balanced with an Iskenderian cam, double roller timing chain, and hydraulic lifters. Topping it all off is a rare, fully polished Edelbrock XC-8 cross ram intake with a set of 600 cfm Holley carbs. Backing the engine is built Chevy TH-350 transmission. The rest of the running gear features a Posi rear differential from a 1990 IROC-Z; 1985 Pontiac Trans Am rear disc brake system; front brakes consist of 1978 Mustang spindles with Chevelle discs, rotors and Line Lock installed; steering is a 1978 rack and pinion unit power unit with a Fatman Fabrication front cross member kit.
"Smoother Mover II" is truly the ultimate, cool, thumbs up getting, no disappointments, custom pickup you've been searching for! It looks great and sounds and drives even better.
