Collectors hoarding '76 Eldorado convertibles were distressed to see the model return for 1984 in the form of a new Eldorado convertible. Though the body hadn't been designed at the outset as a convertible, it took to being decapitated well as the car's lines looked wonderful with the top down. Structural reinforcement helped the car handle the weight and loss of integrity brought on by the conversion. While 74,506 buyers were found for the $20,342 (base price) Eldorado coupe in 1984, only 3,300 went for the drop top largely due to its $31,286 price tag. All convertibles were powered by the HT-4100 V8, were equipped with a 4 speed automatic transmission with overdrive and 4 wheel disc brakes. The conversion on this particular example was done by Hess & Eisenhardt and is of the highest quality. Optional upgrades include the gorgeous Bentley styled grille, the deluxe two tone leather interior with suede inserts, the beautiful two tone paint and the deluxe headliner with opera lights. This is a 3 owner car with 38,207 original miles. It has been pampered since day one and has just a couple of very minor aesthetic flaws. It is completely original except for the cellular antenna mounted to the rear quarter panel and everything is working properly except for the radio which works perfectly but will not power off. It has been serviced regularly and has recently received new tires, a new starter, a new battery, a new exhaust and new shocks for both the hood and trunk hinges. If you have been looking at similar cars you will be hard pressed to find one in this condition for the price we are asking.
