The Buick Super is powered by the legendary 4.1L Fireball inline-8 and is a thrill to drive!
This very nicely partially restored example in tuxedo black with a red leather and matching black top. The chrome is in excellent condition, and the fit and finish of the body panels is quite nice. The car runs and drives very smoothly as a Buick should and will make an excellent tour car, and with the recent work undertaken could prove a worthy show for any Concours as well.
This particular Buick retains its original black paint from the doors back while having new upholstery (front fenders and hood repainted in the last 4 months). No bondo or rust holes in this car. This Buick has been written up in several magazines and has even had a write up by noted automotive writer Tom Strongman. The chrome and stainless is all in good condition for its age. There are minor imperfections such as scratching but overall shows well. The newer black, Hartz style, power convertible top is in excellent condition and it looks great on the Buick. The Hydro-electric top and windows work perfectly. Inside, the interior has been freshly reupholstered and compliments the black.
It houses a set of original gauges that also look great. Under the hood, you'll find the inline 8 cylinder “Buick Fireball” engine, mated to the engine is a 3-speed “three on the tree” manual transmission. The engine was rebuilt in the recent past and converted to a 12 volt system for convenience. The front suspension was rebuilt by an older Buick specialist out of Iowa. He also changed the rear gears from the original 4.56 to 3.90 gears. This allows the car to run at highway speeds and keep the RPMs lower. The car sits upon a newer set of 15” Tru-Spoke wire wheels with Buick center caps wrapped in P235/75R15 white wall radial tires. The underside of this car is very clean and completely undercoated, you can tell it has been garaged for most of its life
Always maintained by mechanic from Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg or equivalent specialty mechanic. Always wintered in heated climate controlled storage. All original precious metal and a significant car.
This car has been restored with the intent on driving and has been converted to 12 volts with an alternator in lieu of a generator and an electric fuel pump. No excessive smoke on startup, no noises from the engine.
