1949 Buick Model 71 Roadmaster 4 Door Sedan
CA car restored approx 8 years ago.
Automatic Transmission (rebuilt 2 years ago), Rear Wheel Drive.
The car was purchased just as you see it in exemplary restored condition. Current owner rebuilt the Transmission, replaced fuel tank, battery, and 4 new tires in last 2 or 3 years.
Odometer mileage is believed to be original for the exceptional orignal condition of interior.
This car started easily with the turn of a key, runs quietly, and has an excellent quality ride.
EXTERIOR: All trim is present. All brightwork/chrome is intact and in great shape. The only damage to any trim observed was a small dent in the left fender rear side moulding that does not detract greatly for its luxurious presentation.
Car was a body on full restoration done to a very high standard.
No rust of any kind observed short of minor rust scale to undercarriage and 1 small spot on bottom of quarter (very minor).
Rt fender has missing paint along inside edge at the mid-hood area. Touch up should do nicely in that area.
Hood has a small stone chip that touchup should resolve nicely.
Fender skirts are a rare good fit.
All panels are straight, free of damage and in very good condition.
All glass is intact and undamaged------appears to be all original.
Paint is a strong 9 or 9.5 out of 10 for the quality of base/clear applied.
Frt Grille has very VERY subtle evidence of minor pitting but otherwise all the chrome and brightwork are exceptional. All doors close firmly as they should.
INTERIOR: I am fairly sure the entire cloth interior is original, but it is so incredibly clean and stain-free it may have been replaced with new.
All trim is present inside. Carpet is exceptional in all respects. Headliner is perfectly intact.
No bolster wear to seats, flooring or windlace.
All instrumentation is beautiful------a work of art------------everything works as it should. Odometer reflects 15473 which by all accounts is correct/original even for this cars age.
Non smoker/no unusual odors etc.
MECHANICAL: I have a video of this car on start up when cold. Like any 40's era car it took the usual priming of pumping the gas pedal 6 or 8x...........then with the turn of the key it promptly roars to life with the new battery. Very subtle hints of smoke evident on startup that went away as the car warmed up. Car is quiet for a big car and moves easily for its inline 8 cylinder power plant.
Undercarriage reveals minor oil leak likely at oil pan or rear main seal or the torque-tube area, but nothing profuse. Photos of front & rear undercarriage available.
All fluids are full.
Transmission shifts promptly thru all detents as it should as it was rebuilt 2 years ago.
Fuel tank is new.
Except for the oil leak, the underside is otherwise dry and very original. Some parts look
