I've been asked to handle the sale of his incredible '59 Electra 225 Convertible by his family. This is a highly restored example with a new carpet, top pump motor & Cylinder(s). It is in exceptional condition and very rare to be a top of the line offering produced in low numbers.
EXTERIOR: White Over Red Vinyl Interior with black vinyl top. There is literally NO missing paint anywhere on this exceptional finish that makes it a 10 out of 10 for paint quality, fit & finish.
All door gaps are good. Doors do not sag. No Damage to glass. No pitting to glass window frames. No evidence of rust anywhere.
All trim is present and in near excellent condition overall.
Chrome Bumpers/Grille are near perfect with the only exception being when the rear bumper was tightened down to the reinforcement there are subtle dimples evident at those bolt locations.
The ONLY body damage observed ANYWHERE on this maginficent auto is at the right quarter dogleg area which has a very subtle buckle evident, but the paint is not broken. I cannot see any source that would have caused this including underside, but I do feel a competent tech can PDR that area (Paintless dent repair). Please see photos. This minor damage is there but not obvious to most.
Paint is 2-stage base clear with a very deep high quality finish with excellent brilliance.
INTERIOR: Front & Rear seats appear to be all original. Driver's seat has the most wear predictably, but I think someone with good vinyl repair talent could make the minor wear areas disappear. Little to no seat bolster wear.
Seat belts do not look original to me and may have been added. Chime in if you know more from photos.
Carpet & pad are all new. Custom color-coded aftermarket Buick Floor Mats were added to match carpet color.
No heal pad wear etc.
Door & Quarter Trim panels are near excellent. Only the dor handle pull areas have wear (splits) that will rquire attention.
Steering Wheel is not split. Dash is not split.
Rear seats are original and in very good condition.
The underside of vinyl top and all hardware is exceptional. No missing paint or hanging rubber cushions etc.
All Chrome work is beautiful on dash---a wok of art.
Odometer indicates 62370 which I believe to be all original.
All instrumentation and radio works as it should.
MECHANICAL: Car seems to need starter spray in the air cleaner airhorn to start. I'm sure this is only a minor maintenance issue. The car starts easily, and roars to life and idles quietly. No smoke of any kind.
Vehicles drives very nicely/gracefully down the road. Underside is nice and looks mostly original as near as I can tell. I think all suspension is fine, but could use some detailing to be exceptional. Missing pain on oil pan for example.
No leaks apparent. Nothing more than minor patina from age. Obviously a very cared for car by all acounts.
Top works wonderfully. Switch is fine. Back plastic window is clear. Tonneau cover fits fine (I was too lazy to snap it in place for photos).
Spare tire looks new or otherwise unused. Tires are good all around showing no wear. I didn't check date codes for age but I will.
Power windows all work easily off master switch & at all individual locations.
Engine bay is exceptionally clean. No obvious oil leaks or maintenance issues that detract from it. Correct color green. All decals appear to be properly in place. Bolts are clean and look new in some respects (I am aware some were replaced for the AACA national senior award).
NON-AC car.
Transmissions shifts easily thru all detents with no observations of anything unusual performance wise.
I'm sure there are more perfect examples that exist but I can't imagine one much bettr than this car for its merits. I'm sure the bucket seat cars are even more rare than this one. It's been a long time since I've seen that was this nicely restored in all respects and I have been around some worldclass restorations. This is a very expensive car with nothing but upside to may way of thinking. No surprises etc.
Additional photos available upon request.
I know these often end up overseas. I am open to accommodate shipping instructions once payment has been confirmed.
Widow is not open to any trades (I've got 2 other nice older cars to sell for her). Price is firm please.
The sale includes plenty of '59 periodicals, professional photos of this car, and some T-shirts made up from those photos in
