1957 Bentley S1 

The Bentley S was a luxury car produced by Bentley Motors Limited from 1955 until 1959. Bentley's first true complete redesign of their standard production car after World War II and their last standard production car with an independent chassis. In 1955 the new standard steel saloon replaced the R type standard steel saloon which had been in production since 1946. It was a larger 5 or 6 seater saloon with a pressed steel body and the doors, bonnet and luggage locker lid were all made of aluminum. Having a totally new external appearance, although with the traditional radiator grille, the main differences from the R type were that it had a 3 inch longer wheelbase, a lower height without reducing headroom, an enlarged luggage boot, a softer suspension, lighter steering, improved braking, a larger 4.9L straight 6 engine and a four speed automatic gearbox with the ability to select individual ratios was standard. This particular example is all numbers matching with what is believed to be 10,295 original miles. It has been in the same family for over 30 years and was repainted in its original color about 20 years ago. Unfortunately the seals and weather stripping have a lot of overspray and the paint has some chips and scratches but it still shows well. The engine starts right up and purrs likes a kitten and the transmission shifts clean and smoothly. The brakes were just completely gone through and it has all new master and wheel cylinders. It does need some electrical attention as the climate controls, wiper, horn and lights and not working properly. The brake lights and blinkers are working properly. All said and done we would classify this as a very solid #3 car and would appraise it a $29,820 accordingly. We know it is a buyer’s market and we have priced the car accordingly.
